Short Description
Both individual decisions and broad policies regarding beach nourishment are driven by a variety of factors including the commercial, industrial, residential, and recreational use of coastal areas, competing uses for the economic resources used to nourish beaches, and a recognition of the value of a healthy natural environment. This component of the Web site explores Law and Policy as they relate to beach nourishment and the Socioeconomic Factors that help determine the social and economic appropriateness of beach nourishment; it also contains a Case Study that describes one community's experience in coming to a decision with regard to beach nourishment, and a Professional Dialog that helps to put human faces on the scientific debate over the pros and cons of beach nourishment.
